Bethany Beach, Delaware

Hey! Thanks for stopping by. Today I’m recapping Day Two of my mini post-deployment getaway. Make sure you check out Day One: Baltimore!

So Felix didn’t like S-Town. I’m kind of not surprised. I’m not sure how I felt about it the first time I listened to it either, actually. Do we like John? Do we not? How do we feel about Tyler? What kind of super caffeinated tea was John brewing and where I can buy some?

So many questions.

We were super excited to finally make it to the quaint beach town in Delaware. I’ve only been to the state a handful of times, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but it was so beautiful!

We stayed at Bethany Beach Ocean Suites Residence Inn, and our room was literally on the beach.

Kind of dark. Apologies! But this is our view from the bed.

I was actually blown away when I walked into our suite. Felix did such an amazing job planning and booking our stay, which we loved by the way! Everyone at the hotel was so friendly. Plus, they had unlimited coffee + fruit-infused water in the lobby, which is a plus if you want to stay caffeinated and hydrated at the same time.

As soon as we unloaded our bags, we slathered on some sunscreen and walked five steps to the beach.

I stopped and admired the view from our room first. I mean, would you just look at this?

From my Instagram

After renting an umbrella, we got cozy on the beach for some sun and reading.

I always forget how much I enjoy a relaxing beach day. After a few hours, however, we started getting hungry, as if this surprises anyone reading or even us. #alwayshungry

I said the word “tacos” and both of our faces lit up. Much to our dismay, there was only one Mexican restaurant within walking distance, and it was closed, despite Yelp saying it was open. I’m looking at you, Baja Beach House Grill. SHAME ON YOU.

So we opted for pizza at a place called Pie instead. We shared a delicious artichoke, goat cheese, and caramelized onion pizza with a glass of sauv blanc for me and a beer for the dude.

It was pretty good! The menu was a little sparse, but it did the trick.

After chatting over pizza and drinks, we walked back to our hotel and grabbed Tuki for a little stroll before heading up to the pool for a dip.

We were wiped out from the drive and the sun, so we called it a night a little early and found ourselves in bed by 8:30 p.m. snacking on apples and dry cereal and watching Mrs. Doubtfire, aka comedic GOLD.

Honestly, it was perfect. Also, dry cereal for the win. Anyone else?

Day Three

Friday morning started pretty early with another coffee run for your’s truly.

This one was from a really cute place called Beach Break Bakrie & Cafe. I grabbed this coffee and a bag of mini orange cranberry scones for us to share. The barista who was working was wearing a Zeta Tau Alpha shirt, so, naturally I had to yell, “I WAS A ZETA IN COLLEGE.” It didn’t startle her in the least.

We enjoyed this place so much that we actually stopped there for lunch to go before hitting the road back home. Their food was really good!

Check out wasn’t until 11 a.m., so after coffee, we grabbed breakfast in our hotel and changed into our swimsuits for some last minute sun rays before leaving.

It felt so luxurious to walk on your porch and have the beach right there. I still couldn’t get over the views.

Loving this book. Also, the author held a legit Twitter convo with me so now I totally feel like we’re friends IRL.

Around 10:00 a.m., we showered, got ready, and checked out of the hotel after waving one last goodbye to the beach.

It was bittersweet leaving. It always is after a trip, don’t you think? It’s nice to get back into the swing of things, but there’s honestly nothing like traveling. It’s one of my favorite things to do, and I hope to write more travel recaps and travel tips for you guys on the blog. Would that be something you’d be interested in?

We got home, unpacked, and decided that just because we were home, vacation didn’t have to be over.

So we did what anyone else would do in this situation. We made pina coladas, drank a LOT OF THEM, and spent the rest of the night listening to music and playing Exploding Kittens (such a fun game!), Scattergories (this one got competitive), and watching a couple of episodes of The Wire.

All in all, it was an excellent little getaway, and I’m so happy we got the chance to explore both Baltimore and Bethany Beach. We’ll definitely be back.

In the meantime, we’re back to usual business around these parts, but we’re already planning and preparing for our next adventure. Want to know where we’re going?!?!

Stay tuned.

Do you like pina coladas? Getting caught in the rain?

What’s your favorite game to play with your significant other? Do you guys get as competitive as Felix and me? It got so bad, we took to Twitter. Felix even Tweeted the Pope.

Felix did SO good picking out that hotel! I cannot believe the view you guys had! Also, why are you both so adorable?! Relationship goals right there! Also, I’m thinking that you and I need to meet halfway for a day/night in NYC. Puhlease.
