It has never been my intention to make Powered by Sass political, but I feel it would be acceptable for me to at least address the issues that are currently happening in America under our new President, Donald Trump.
That’s the first time I have ever typed that.
I don’t know how I feel about it.
One, as a white woman living in America, it is my duty to stand up as a fellow American and have a voice for the voiceless. That means that those who are not be treated EQUAL TO others, I am here to tell you that you are being heard and advocated for and you are loved.
Two, to the beautiful, empowering, strong as hell females that marched all over the WORLD for gender equality, I salute you and I support you.
Three, I believe that our current band of leaders do not represent America. America is not discriminatory. America is not racist. America is not sexist. America is not xenophobic. Etc.
Four, refugees are welcome here. Immigrants are welcome here. America is for all. #NoBanNoWall. Honestly, who the hell are you anyway to try to keep people out of our country? You’re not “protecting” America by doing this. I hope you realize that. Also, the people we need to protect are not upper class white people like yourself, sir.
Honestly, I could go on and on.
One thing I will say is that I am horrified by the amount of discrimination happening in America right now. Horrified. For someone to state that a certain group of people should not have the same rights as another group of people is sickening and baffling and downright incorrect.
We are ALL human beings living a life that we deserve a fair shot at, and it is no one’s right to tell us otherwise or decide that we are deemed unworthy.
There are good people in the world.
And there are bad people in the world.
But for the love of God, the quality of their character is not decided by their skin color or their sexual orientation, or their disability, or their religious affiliation or where they just so happened to be born in this world.
Read that over and over and over again.
And then read it again.
Stop the hate.
Stop forcing your beliefs down someone’s throat because it’s what you believe to be true.
Not everyone thinks like you do, and that’s okay, but if you expect us to hear you out, we expect the same.
Let women have the right to their bodies.
Let people marry who they want to marry.
Let people come to this country for a better life.
Let people have a fair chance.
Because they are human beings and they deserve it.
